Crop figures are cited from public agriculture pages, including the Department of Agriculture Sri Lanka.
Methodology
- How does this planting calendar decide a month?
- It only marks a month when a planting-window row exists for that crop and climate zone. An empty month means the window is not stored. It is not a suggestion to skip or to sow.
- Why are so many crops marked no data?
- A crop shows months only when a planting window for that climate is stored. Those rows can still be unverified: the page names the source and asks you to confirm them. Data coming soon means no window is stored for that crop and climate.
- How are tropical wet and dry seasons handled?
- Tropical and frost-free regimes use month windows. Named season ranges are drawn separately and are not collapsed into one wet-season pair. They are climate context, not planting instructions.
- What happens in a frost climate?
- Temperate and continental regimes use day offsets from a sourced last or first frost date. If those dates are missing, the page says insufficient frost data and does not convert offsets or month numbers into a calendar.
- What if my location is not in the list?
- You can pick a climate regime yourself. That choice is labelled manual. It is not a sourced location, and it still will not invent planting months.
